Potpourri

It’s still a slow news period for us – still steamy summer – but here are a few tidbits ……

RYNER

…… A rumor floats that perennial Seiler thorn Earl Rynerson’s moving billboard received a traffic ticket as it circled the Mayor’s State of the City address this past Thursday. I haven’t heard back from Rynerson for verification, and the Police are mum.

                      ……… Rynerson

They should at least give Rynerson a ticket for using that old, heavier photo of Seiler if nothing else!

…………………………………………………………………………….

Crime stats for July came out this week, and the news is almost all good. Out of the nearly 100 neighborhoods in the City, only a handful saw any appreciable increases in crime over this time last year – But if you live in any of the neighborhoods below, you now have a better chance of a burglar invading your home or car – (and you should complain!)

Colee Hammock- CityView Townhomes- Chula Vista- Harbordale- Coral Ridge- Flager Heights- LakeRidge- Landings- Nurmi Isles – Victoria Park   …….

……….. Thankfully, the  South Middle River neighborhood continues its’ remarkable recovery, with the home burglary rate down another 25%, with only 97 burglaries so far this year    …..   In comparison, Nurmi Isles ( the Las Olas neighborhood where the Rodstroms must no longer live in as Charlotte Rodstrom is running to be a County Commissioner for the Coconut Creek area) has seen an explosion of burglaries from their historical NONE, to SIX, so far this year.

……………………………………………………………………………….

………. A few nut-jobs continue to make a mockery of the City Commission meetings. One in particular signs up to speak on every item, and then rambles off topic until the Mayor eventually stops him. Something needs to be done –

………..  And lastly, the upcoming Funky Fun Run, a really fun 5K road race that will take place along 13th Street on Feb. 21, 2015, officially opened it’s enrollment at this last Commission meeting (go to FunkyFunRun.org) ….  You may think it is too early, but with the prizes mounting, you should put on those running shoes ( or even buy some new ones).

…….  As you can see from the unabashedly self- promoting selfie below, I have been running 5Ks to get in shape, and got second place for my age category in one already ( and yes, there were more than two people in the race!).

  1. As far as this homeless man Ray Cox we are making progress. the mayor gave him ten(10) minutes to rabble in regards to the consent agenda. Which was better than last month when Mr.Cox pulled everything from the consent agenda and they did not get out of there to almost 2am. So after a little research it was decided to give him 10 min. to address his concerns regarding the consent agenda. Then he pulled everything after that as well. At least the meeting got over before ten as opposed to going to the wee hours of the morning. Oh he is not alone Tim. The comments from Chritine Timmions where equally as offensive. I see people (the usual suspects) hogging the comm.meetings and tuning it into a circus show. Then there is also the “The Count” who lives in over in S.Middle River terr. So this guy are Jewish vampire(Count Rosenthal-come on) also wil go up after every time Charlie King gets up there. Tim, you are right this has to stop, and will. Total nonsense. These ar e not concerned citizens but a bunch of misfits where this is their only voice ,due to the fact that society wants nothing to do w/ them. Lastly kudos to my retired Navy Officer Genia Ellis. She had drama w/ the bacon festival becaus e it falls on Yom Kippur. She stated don’t look at me i’m a vegetiarian. Priceless.

  2. Speaking of Genia Ellis just to clarify she obviously is not part of this circus down @ these meetings. I just thought her comment to the media about the bacon festival was great. It wasn’t her fault the festival is on Yom Kippur. Don’t worry Genia I’ll bring Molly. She loves bacon. Keep up th e good work. At least Genia and the Riverwalk staff bring alot of people to the Riverwalk. Besides Mrs.ellis is a Navy Officer.(I couldn’t get past E1. Im sorry those “PT Shorts” where just waaay to much…. ).

Cant someone take Charlie to Chucky Cheese or something during the meetings?

  4. So how much reduction in crime across the city is there?
Crime in the super voter neighborhoods?
As I stated before, we live in one city every neighborhood needs to be healthy.
For the whole to live at peace.

  5. Why take Charlie away, America? Would the reason be to shut him up? Charlie does point out the buffoonery of your buddy, Jack. Do you have an agenda America? Could you and your pal be trying to hide something from the voters?

Just a few weeks ago you were throwing shade on Tim, America. You want to silence Charlie. Guess these fellas are not meeting your agenda.

Everyone has to suffer at the meetings through Robert Walsh’s tortuous irrational pontifications. Jack found a way to make Robert Walsh like him, but can’t get Walsh to shut up. As long as Walsh is speaking in favor of Jack and the boys (except Dean) then he can talk on and on and on…

Let them ALL have a chance to stand up and say what they want. They are tax payers, voters and citizens of the City of Fort Lauderdale. Plus it is comical entertainment in which you will get material to write your blogs. I get a kick out of watching Jack squirm on his throne. Leave it to Jackie boy to try to stop these people from speaking out against him and his pals.

  6. Wow in regards to your comments “let freedom ring”. We work as a team many, many, of us. Bring it on. You are above this crap Mayor. And the majority of the residents have your back Mayor…..My irrational pontifications huh. You are the problem, not the commission nor the majority of the residents. There are a select few(a noisy bunch, i’ll give you that) that need to “get out”…
